The filter options pane can be reached by selecting the topmost node in the filter tree. In the registered version it allows you to set logging profiles. Logging allows you to track when a filter was run, who ran it, how long it ran for, which files it processed or skipped, the input size and output size of each file and the changes made to it by each filter. It also keeps track of any errors that occurred during a filter job.

There are three levels of log entry - Info, Warning and Error. Info lines are reported in the Results tab of the Status Window, and Warnings and Errors are reported in the Errors tab. All three are written to the log file. Logged errors modify TextPipe's exit code.

Logging enabled

When checked, this allows log information to be sent to the log file.

Log filename

The name of the file to log to. In the evaluation version this is forced to the same folder than textpipe.exe is in. TextPipe will force the creation of folders if necessary.

Show

Opens the log file in NotePad.

Delete

Deletes the log file after prompting for confirmation.

Append to file

Adds to an existing log file if one exists

Overwrite file

Clears any existing log file before adding log data

Don't log to file if line count is less than...

No lines are written to the log file unless this threshold is exceeded. Any lines are stored in the results screen and can be transferred to the log file if desired. A value of zero forces all lines to be written out.

This is useful for preventing logging for small jobs, and keeps the size of the log file small.
